A coalition of peace, justice and anti-war groups.

Diversity in beliefs, unity for a cause...

Since January, 2008, twenty-three WNY peace, justice, and anti-war groups have been meeting and collaborating.   See the list.

We don’t have a name, but we are united in:

    opposing the war in Iraq

· struggling for an end to violence and injustice here in Buffalo and around the world

· seeing connections between our local struggles and those happening overseas

We seek to work together so that our activities can be more focused and effective than if each group operated entirely separately.  In particular, we have adopted two projects in Spring 2008 as shared priorities that we will all work on.  The two projects are:

· an action on March 22 (exact location and schedule not yet final) against the war in Iraq, on the occasion of the 5th anniversary of the U.S. invasion of Iraq.  Parallel actions in other communities around the state, coordinated by Direction Action of NYS, will take place during the Mar xx-yy period.  Similar actions are taking place in other states.  More information on the Buffalo Mar 22 event.

· an event on April 4, at xxx church on Buffalo’s East Side (schedule and agenda not yet final), to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the death of Martin Luther King, Jr., and to build awareness and networks that will allow WNY organizations better to pursue King’s vision of combining struggles for peace and justice.  More information on the MLK Apr 4 event.

Each organization continues to pursue its own mission.   Click here for a calendar of peace and justice events in WNY initiated by these and other organizations.
